Read the case

In today’s hybrid workplaces, understanding employee sentiments is crucial for businesses looking to foster a positive workplace culture and boost productivity. Traditionally, companies have relied on lengthy, often uninspiring surveys to gather insights from their workforce.

Meet Askforce.one, a company on a mission to transform the way businesses understand their employees’ thoughts. With a ready-to-use mobile application, they make surveys more resourceful and impactful.

Where It All Began

The brainchild of Askforce.one came from a mobile application called Waddist , which was designed to ask questions to young people and gain insight into their perspectives on various societal topics. All the answers are registered anonymously, elevating the participation grade. Waddist’s approach was refreshingly different:

  • Daily Questions: Users received three multiple choice questions each day, spanning a wide range of topics. These questions encouraged reflection and meaningful discussions among users. These type of questions allows for better analyses of the results.
  • Peer Comparison: Survey results became available the following day, allowing users to compare their responses with those of their peers. This feature encouraged diversity of thought and healthy debates.
  • Daily Tips: Each question was accompanied by a daily tip, providing users with additional information on the topic. This clever combination of education and relaxation added depth to the user experience.

Transforming the Idea

Recognizing the potential of this approach to transform employee engagement, the teams behind Waddist and Inuits joined forces. Together, they brainstormed how to adapt this concept into a valuable tool for companiesto understand and engage with their employees. Askforce.one is also a valuable survey tool for associations and sports clubs to questions their members.

The idea was simple yet profound: instead of asking employees to fill out lengthy surveys, why not engage them with daily, fun, and lightweight questions? Askforce.one has a team of HR specialists who schedule questions for multiple days or weeks. These questions combine general and organization-specific inquiries. They can be sent to all employees or segmented to specific groups (e.g., only IT employees or employees aged 25-35).

By leveraging the Waddist concept, Askforce.one aimed to gather better information, more meaningful statistics, and significantly boost employee engagement.

Development and Technology

With this vision in mind, Waddist and its accompanying backoffice were transformed into a new solution. To ensure the application’s accessibility across different platforms, the team used React Native, allowing them to write a single codebase that worked seamlessly on both iOS and Android devices. The use of EXPO ensured that users always had the latest version of the application, guaranteeing a smooth user experience.

In addition to the mobile application, the team developed a web application on Django, serving as a dashboard for companies. This web app streamlined the scheduling of questions and tips, offered data export capabilities for research purposes, and generated graphical representations of data.

Customization and Multitenancy

To accommodate multiple customers, we implemented a multitenant system. Each company using the application can customize its frontend with its logo and colors. Clients received a unique QR code that employees could scan to register in their personalized version of the application. The system could also be seamlessly integrated with the customer’s identity provider (IDP) to improve the onboarding process.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Askforce.one’s innovative approach to employee engagement through a user-friendly mobile application and backoffice has reshaped the way companies understand their workforce. By making engagement fun, they’ve turned the traditional survey process into a dynamic, daily interaction that yields richer insights and fosters stronger employee engagement. This transformation sets the stage for continued improvements and innovative solutions in the future, all aimed at creating more vibrant, productive workplaces.
